Norfolk Island Central School (NICS) is the only school on Norfolk Island and as such has a very strong connection with the local community. The uniqueness of the Norfolk Island community with its Polynesian and Bounty history is reflected through the school. Traditions are honoured and we promote and preserve our culture for future generations. One of the many ways we honour the Pitcairn descendants and history of Norfolk Island is by singing the Pitcairn Anthem and God Save the King at important school events.
Our school recognises that for all students to succeed, our community, parents and school need to work in collaboration to achieve quality learning outcomes. NICS focusses on growing the whole student, with a strong emphasis on academic, sporting and cultural involvement. At NICS we believe that learning is a life-long process and occurs best within a supportive, stimulating and challenging environment which recognises students' individual needs and abilities.
Our school motto is “Play the Game", with the following core values underpinning the way we operate: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Resilience.
