During the first years at our school, we aim to nurture our students by providing the best possible start for the children on the island. We believe that these early years are a critical period for the establishment and development of the skills, knowledge, behaviours, values and attitudes that provide the foundations for life-long learning and sustained personal wellbeing. Early Stage 1 at our school builds on the experiences children have had prior to beginning school.
Prep - Year 2
In P-2 we provide a secure, positive and stimulating learning environment that caters for each child's abilities and fosters high expectations throughout every learning area. At the same time we seek to develop in our young learners an independence of mind and sound work habits, a positive sense of self and a deep respect for others. We model the values we seek for our students.
Years 3-6
In the Primary years (3-6) at Norfolk Island Central School our dedicated staff are committed to providing quality teaching and learning opportunities, incorporating information and technology skills whenever possible across the curriculum, and providing effective student wellbeing programs that ensure the safety and positive growth and development of all students.
Year 6
At the end of primary school and into high school the needs of young adolescents in the middle years (aged 10-15) are integrated into our teaching.
Year 6 is the final year of primary school and an exciting time as students can take a leadership role in our school. We work together with secondary staff and students to assist our Year 6 students to have a successful start to high school.
